Java for OS X 2015-001 installs the legacy Java 6 runtime for OS X 10.11 El Capitan, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and OS X 10.7 Lion. This package is exclusively intended for support of legacy software and installs the same deprecated version of Java 6 included in the 2014-001 and 2013-005 releases. Oct 21, 2014 If your Mac running OS X Yosemite needs Java for application compatibility, online banking, or any of the myriad of other reasons, you can manually install one of two versions of Java that are compatible with OS X 10.10, either the latest version of JRE 8, or an older version from Apple which remains compatible with the newest.
To install it follow these steps:
- Download JDK 7
- Open the DMG
- Run
pkgutil --expand '/Volumes/JDK 7 Update 60/JDK 7 Update 60.pkg' '/tmp/JDK 7 Update 60.unpkg'
- Go to
/tmp/JDK 7 Update 60.unpkg
- Open the Distribution file in your favorite editor (I recommend (Sublime Text)[http://www.sublimetext.com])
- Change the function
pm_install_check()
to always returntrue
- Run
pkgutil --flatten '/tmp/JDK 7 Update 60.unpkg' '/tmp/JDK 7 Update 60.pkg'
- Run
open '/tmp/JDK 7 Update 60.pkg'
The installer should skip the OS version check and you should be able to install without any problems.
Since downloading and installing OS X Yosemite, I was required to search Oracle.com to download the newer version of Java 8.20+ in order to continue using Java on the new OS. I followed the Pop Up Box linking to the Oracle.com page. I followed the instructions and seemed out 'JRE DOWNLOAD' for Java SE Runtime Environment 8. I downloaded and installed the proper version for my MAC OS. The software version was Java v8.25.
Java For Os X Yosemite Update
Since that time, I keep running into the same minor problem after I boot up my 17' Macbook Pro Retina. It continually gives me this Pop Up Box:
Is Yosemite 10.10.5 Still Supported
'You are running Mac OS X 10.10, which is currently an unsupported platform for Java 7. Starting with Java 8 Update 20 (8u20), download and install Java 8 from oracle.com.'

I don't see anything improper workings and I just want to remove this unwanted warning with a correct fix. Please give your input. Thank you in advance.
